The Wisconsin Genetics Exchange is an annual statewide educational conference primarily intended for genetics and allied healthcare professionals. The purpose of the Wisconsin Genetics Exchange is to provide participants with an opportunity for statewide collaboration and continued professional development. Sharing of knowledge and practices is an important way of increasing the competency of practitioners in Wisconsin.
This year’s theme is “State of the State in Wisconsin Medical Genetics” and will include presentations on the WI Newborn Screening Program updates and challenges, and results of a statewide needs assessment
NSGC Category 1 CEU credit application is pending. Additional healthcare credit types are not being offered this year. UW CEU credit is available. Genetic counselors must complete the evaluation by October 21, 2022 to receive NSGC Category 1 CEU credit.
This activity is intended for physicians, fellows/residents, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, genetic counselors, geneticists, lab technicians, and other allied health care professionals.
At the conclusion of this conference, the healthcare team will be able to:
- Describe statewide medical genetic service needs and resources
- Describe current issues facing the WI Newborn Screening program
- Identify collaborative participation opportunities to address statewide medical genetics needs
Funding for this conference is provided by the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Title V Services Block Grant, Maternal & Child Health Bureau, Health Resources and Service Administration, and US Department of Health and Human Services. MCH programs support advances important to serving children with disabilities.
