The Role of the Genetic Specialist

Genetic specialists can provide:

  • Consultation, counseling or evaluation
  • An assessment of risk or confirm diagnosis of a genetic disease
  • Management options and referrals to specialists as needed
  • Information and guidance to primary care providers on specific conditions, including prognosis and treatment
  • Recommend educational materials to patients and families
